Sankeien Garden

Today we went to the Sankeien Garden that is about a 15 minute walk from our house. It was absolutely beautiful! We have been told that in November and in the spring (cherry blossom time) that it is even more beautiful. What really amazed me, is that all the structures in the garden are older than our own country. There was a museum that contained many OLD artifacts and you could be taught how to perform a tea ceremony (which we did not do). Take a look at the photos. They really don't do it justice.

This does look like an interesting place with pretty & unusual (at least for us here) structures. Is the last pic the museum? I think y'all should have learned how to do that tea ceremony, might have been a good way to pass the time when y'all are here instead of a card game. Bet Curtis thought it sounded to sissified for him, huh? LOL!! Hope all of you are adjusting to whatever has stirred up your sinuses. What is the temp over there this time of year? You said they don't do halloween, guess not thanksgiving since the pilgrims came here instead of there...lol! What about Christmas? Do the Christians there celebrate like we do? Does Santa Claus even know where Japan is? Geesh, I'm full of questions today.
Y'all take care & keep those notes & pics coming......Much Love

The last pic was of a 3 story pagoda (not the museum). It is what you see on the hill in the first picture. I wanted to do the tea ceremony, but you're right Aunt Pat...Curtis didn't want to. The temperature has been beautiful, low to mid 70's during the day and 60's at night. American holidays are not really celebrated over here, but the stores sale halloween stuff and have now started putting out Christmas stuff. Curtis will be working on Thanksgiving, but has the Monday before off for some Japanese holiday (like a Thanksgiving). We will probably celebrate Thanksgiving with the Clarks (other Nissan family here). Santa has been made aware that we are in Japan, however since we may be home for Christmas...he won't have to travel that far. We are decorating for Christmas though...if our sea shipment gets here before Christmas. Thanks for the post Aunt Pat and please keep those questions and comments coming...we really look forward to hearing what people have to say.
