Today was Avery's first field trip ever. In Japan, it is a big tradition for children to go on a "potato dig". They go to a local farm and actually dig up their own potatoes and then go for a picnic afterwards. Avery was so excited about going and then she was so excited about what she had gotten. See the pictures below.
Guess who gets to cook those now???? You guessed it....me! Recipes anyone???

Wow - I am just now catching up from the last couple of weeks. You guys have done so much - it's so beautiful. I cannot wait to see it. LOVE the potato picture! Aunt Tessi
Well, those look just like regular old U.S. sweet potatoes. I'm wondering if the Japanese variety tastes different. Vardaman, MS is the sweet potato capital of the world so I'm sure they will be happy to let Avery dig for taters there. Actually, I am having a sweet potato for supper tonight with my pulled pork. I like to peel them, slice them kind of thin(lengthwise), pan fry them in a little oil. Dip 'em up on paper towel & sprinkle with sugar (I use Splenda). Caution - when you eat them you have to be careful that you don't swallow your tongue - they are that delicious. LOL! Let me know how you decide to prepare them. Avery, you did a really good job digging really big & pretty ones.
~ Love to all!
GOOD JOB! Avery. Your Auntie Carla loves potatoes. I'm glad you had fun.
Love Ya!
Mmmmmm, sweet taters...I LOVE 'EM. Good job Avery. I wish you could bring them to me, I would cook them for you! Tell Mommy to slice them them up about 1/4" thick and fry them on low heat in coconut oil, turning frequently, until golden brown. Sprinlke a little cinnimon over them & dip them in honey. It'll make you want to slap yo mama!
Anyhow, now that I've worked up my taste buds...I've got to change the subject. Curtis, I enjoyed talking to you this afternoon. I am really sorry I have been so negligent in looking at your blog. It looks like y'all are getting to do so much and see so many sights most people will never see.
We love you and will promise to be more attentive to your blog. My goal is to beat Aunt Pat to a new posting. Take care, Dad
